Skippers and Munchers Compensate Their Eating In Positive and Negative Situations

There are two types of eaters in the world, the skippers and the munchers. In a stressful situation it was found that the skippers consumed fewer calories while the munchers consumed more. But again in positive situations their response was the opposite wherein the skippers ate more and the munchers less. This overall balanced out the calorie consumption in human beings. Therefore it cannot definitely be said that binge eating was responsible for weight gain. The consumption pattern over a period of time with both stressful as well as positive situations was responsible for the weight of an individual. It is also being believed that preventing a muncher from eating in a negative situation may add to the stress of the individual and thus be harmful. The relationship between stress and eating are indicated in this study and it will help clinicians and doctors involved in the promotion of healthy eating.
