Narcolepsy risk increased in youth by anti-swine flu vaccine

One of the most popular influenza vaccines is considered to be Pandemrix which was created in 2009. It is considered that this vaccine can efficiently fight against H1N1 (or Swine Flu). A team of clinicians from Sweden analyzed and tested the vaccine and discovered that immune and neurological disorders are associated with it. The vaccine is considered to increase narcolepsy risks in young adults. The team of researchers couldn`t find a large number of risks to neurological disorders but could associate Pandemrix with increased risks to adult narcolepsy, between the ages of 21 and 30. “The follow-up of Pandemrix vaccinations in a large registry based study in Sweden confirms an increased risk of narcolepsy in children and adolescents, while also providing reassuring results for a large number of other neurological and immune related diseases”, said Dr. I. Persson from the Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm.
