Malaria is one of the deadliest diseases around the globe. Around 600,000 people die every year from it. The scientists have recognized an immediate need to control it. The scientists from the University of Dundee along with the Medicines for Malaria Venture have discovered a potential anti-malarial drug. This potential drug can work wonders. It is believed it can protect people from danger of Malaria and also it will help prevent spread of the disease from infected people to healthy ones.
One of the co-researchers Dr Kevin Read, based at Dundee, explained, “We are very excited by this compound which belongs to a different chemical class to current antimalarial drugs. This compound will now undergo scale-up and further safety testing with a view to it entering human clinical trials within the next 18 months.”
This compound is a big discovery. It will help in prevention and blocking spread of malaria.
