Patients with acute heart attack can be saved by blood pressure cuff

The results of a recent study, led by researchers from Aarhus University Hospital and Aarhus University and published in European Heart Journal, mortality after acute heart attack and subsequent cardiac symptoms in patients with acute heart attack are both reduced by ischemic conditioning. Body defense mechanism activation Professor Hans Erik Botker and his team of researchers proved that the damage of cardiac tissue can be reduced with 30% by ischemic conditioning in patients following acute balloon treatment, if the procedure is repeated four times. Complication rates Researchers analyzed 251 patients from which the majority found conditioning as a clinical benefit for the heart tissue. Conditioning patients encountered a reduction of 51% of new heart symptoms. Mortality rates were also low and death caused by heart disease was also reduced with 61%. This study was led by Ph.D student Astrid Drivsholm Sloth who considers conditioning as being a promising treatment for heart attacks. However, more research is needed for the exact benefits of this treatment that could prevent heart failure development after suffering a heart attack and reduce mortality.
