Scientists Emphasize Importance of Studying Sweat

Many sports drink companies make provisions for millions in their budget in their quest to find out the perfect stimulating drinks for sports personnel. However, a recent study by the scientists of Stirling University has emphasized the importance of studying sweat to find out the solution. In their research the sports scientists targeted the Scottish rugby players. Essential thing to know is not only how much the players sweat but also what they sweat. “When you sweat, your body not only loses fluid, but also electrolytes – salts such as sodium and potassium”, says scientist and senior sports lecturer of Stirling University Dr Stuart Galloway. While there will be variations in loss of salt from the physique in players depending on their anatomic structures and a number of factors, it is substantial in some cases. Hence the sports drink providers require to build up ways to optimize the fluid they offer with salt supplements that players could fruitfully used during training sessions as well as matches.
