Teens using more energy drinks likely to use alcohol and drugs

According to a study published in the January/February edition, Journal of Addiction Medicine, the official journal of the American Society of Addiction Medicine reveals that almost one-third of US adolescents are consuming high caffeine energy drinks or shots. It has also been found that such teens are likely to consume alcohol, cigarette, or drug use in later stage. As per the research a questionnaires, was framed for the students. According to the study about 30 percent of the teens are having caffeine energy drinks or shots. Further it was found that more than 40 percent were having regular soft drinks, only 20 percent are having diet soft drinks daily. The research also found out that the boys are more diverted towards the energy drinks as compared to the girls. The study also found parental effect on kids. It was found that the teens who are living without two parents at home and those whose parents were less educated are more driven such drinks and late to the alcohol or drugs.
