There is No ‘weekend effect’ that follows appendix removal operations

According to the a latest study it was found that the patients who go for appendix removal surgery especially on a weekends don’t have any kind of postoperative complications as compared to those people who have the same operation during weekdays. The weekenders definitely need to pay little more than usual but are saved from all kinds of complications. Previously it was observed that there are high number operations performed at weekends and have to face weekend effects but with this new research it has been proved wrong. As per the expert John N. Afthinos, MD, the study's lead author and a surgeon specializing in minimally invasive surgery at Staten Island (New York) University Hospital explains, “From what we can see, there's no difference in the quality of patient care between weekend and weekday admissions of patients who have an appendectomy. Patients with symptoms of acute appendicitis should not wait for the weekend to pass to go to the hospital.”
