It does not contain any safeguards added to pills like OxyContin (oxycodone). According to the statistics around 15,000 people die every year from the prescription painkiller use. This drug's approval has actually raised a question for the doctors, lawmakers and affected people. Justifying the use of painkiller, the drugmaker, California stated that the “acetaminophen-free formulation of extended release hydrocodone is an important therapeutic option for certain chronic pain patients.”
