Researchers asks parents to give right skills and stimulation early on in life to ensure a better life later
New research states the first 1000 days of our lives important. It is when the amalgamation between the genes and experience shape the architecture for the brain. Garner says, "What's new is the science; we now know that early experiences alter the structure and function of the way your genes and brain work together, not just in childhood but throughout the lifespan. Unfortunately, today, toxic stress and early childhood adversity are quickly becoming a public health crisis."
It is predicted that by 2030, 90% if the diseases in U.S. will be attributed to unhealthy lifestyles- smoking, obesity, substance abuse. "Childhood adversity and stress can be toxic, and they are causing biological maladaptations”. Decreased attention-capacity disorder is usually caused by lesser skills and/ or stimulation and more exposure to the electronic medium. "To not focus on what the implications of this are would be a huge disservice to the next generation."
