Five Truths on Aging
With the increasing rates of aging, many countries are worried of how to take care of the elderly that are growing rapidly in number. Help Age International and United Nations population fund have provided five important things concerning old age.
Developing countries are at higher risk of increased levels of old age persons. Research shows that the number of the elderly in these countries will triple by the year 2050.
Proper health care and nutrition reduces aging. Moreover, sufficient care to the elderly improves their well being preventing them from being a burden.
“Many governments have resisted tackling the issue partly because it is viewed as hugely complicated, negative and costly”, says Sylvia Stefanoni of HelpAge when suggesting that the elderly should not be despaired.
There is no link between increased development and effective old age care. Developed countries are ranked lower compared to their developing counterparts.
Aging comes with its challenge such as inadequate money for leisure that people need to cope with.
