Life-threatening dangers associated with brain blow

According to a new study, vessels might start bleeding after suffering an injury which leads to brain blow. The study proves that head-related injuries can cause early death. The most predisposed people to premature death following an injury are those with psychiatric diseases, the study proves. The research was released by scientists at the Karolinksa Institute in Stockholm and the University of Oxford and was published in JAMA Psychiatry. It is considered that the common causes of early death are fatal injuries and suicide. There are above 1 million European people transported to hospitals yearly because of traumatic brain injury. Scientists believe that head-related injuries cause permanent damage to neural networks in the brain which leads to people`s inability to deal with new situations. “The mortality rates are like a reverse-iceberg – they`re the most awful outcome, but the rates of depression and anxiety are huge in the brain injury population”, said Prof. Huw Williams, co-director of the centre for clinical neuropsychology research at the University of Exeter.
