Lives might be saved by stocking epinephrine in schools
It is considered that epinephrine works fast, if give soon enough; it will reverse severe reactions. It is recommended for every school to have epinephrine, so every child if needs it to have it but a trained person is also needed who knows how to correctly administer it to children in need.
“Epinephrine needs to be given right away, within five minutes of the onset of symptoms”, said Dr. David Stukas, an allergist and immunologist at Nationwide Children`s Hospital. “If you wait longer, the risk of death increases”.
It is important to have this medication in schools because a lot of children have certain allergies and allergic reactions can have anytime. If children don`t have the possibility get the medication immediately, their risk to death might increase because they might not survive by the time they`re transported to the hospital by an ambulance.
