Black Death could be the reason of convergent evolution
According to a recent study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences shows evidence that the both groups harbor genes can provide resistance to the plague. It has also been found out that these genes do not have traces in North India. It has also been indicated that the original home of the Rroma immune systems is from European Romanians and Rroma that have evolved convergently.
The researchers have examined 200,000 single-nucleotide polymorphisms in all three groups. The researchers found that the despite of different ancestries, the Rroma and the European Romanians are sharing 20 gene variants that the Northwest Indians do not have. These people share gene variants belonging to gene cluster TLR2 that contains the genes TLR1, TLR6 and TLR10.
The researches have also exposed cells engineered to detail the relation between TLR2 to the plague bacterium, Yersinia pestis, and to its ancestor, Yersinia pseudotuberculosis.
