DNA from mom or dad can accelerate personalized medicine?
According to a new study published in Nature Biotechnology and conducted at Ludwig Cancer Research brought out a very new technique that will take on a longstanding challenge in DNA sequencing. The research is helpful in determining whether a particular genetic sequence coming from an individual's mother or father can accelerate personalized medicine or not. The amazing method promises to speed up the studies of how parental genes can contribute to the disease, also improve the process by matching donors along with the organs and in return can help the scientists that help to understand the human migration patterns.
The lead researcher, Bing Ren, Ludwig scientist from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine explains, “The technique will enable clinicians to better assess a person's individual risk for disease. It is potentially transformative for personalized medicine. Current sequencing technologies are fast and rapidly getting cheaper – an individual's genome can now be sequenced in about a week for $5,000.”
