Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Can Be Deal with Opsumit Recommended By the FDA

US FDA or Food and Drug Administration has recently recommended Opsumit or Macitentan to treat adult patients with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. High blood pressure in the lungs is mainly responsible for this disease. The heart is over worked and there is an acute shortness of breath during exercise in this medical condition. Opsumit helps to relax lung arteries by reducing blood pressure thereby preventing lung replacement surgery. According to FDA, disease progression was inhibited by the use of this drug. The drug’s safety and affectivity was tested on 742 people. Unfortunately the drug does have some side effects like urinary tract infections, cold flu like conditions, bronchitis, anemia and headache. The boxes of the medicine Opsumit also carry warnings that the use of this drug may harm an unborn fetus and should therefore be avoided by pregnant women. Opsumit is marketed by a company based in San Francisco called Actelion Pharmaceuticals US
