Rebound Weight Gain after a Successful Diet Can Be Prevented By Various Ways

Most people have a tendency to regain the weight lost after a successful diet program. Studies have shown rebound weight gain after a successful diet was more the norm than the exception. There are many factors working towards it like hunger, lower metabolism and relapse into old habits. But high protein diets, meal replacements, anti obesity drugs and even low glycaemic index foods were helpful in maintaining weight after a period of intensive weight loss according to a meta-analysis published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Since anti obesity drugs seemed to have adverse effects and most of the effective ones have been removed from the market, high protein diets and meal supplement granules seem to work for most people. One interesting fact noted has been that exercise does not seem to help weight maintenance in any significant way. Its effect seemed to be the same as that of a high protein diet.
