Healthcare providers can help to reverse the increase in baby bed sharing
According to study conducted at Yale School of Medicine researchers healthcare providers could reverse or change the trend of infants sharing beds with their care givers. The healthcare people can certainly work up to stop or cut down this unhealthy practice.
There has been significant increase in such between the years 1993 and 2010, specifically among black and Hispanic families. This sharing could affect the infant with sudden infant death syndrome. So, to control this problem it’s high time to control sharing of infant beds.
The lead author, Eve Colson, M.D., professor of pediatrics from the Yale School of Medicine explains the findings of their research, “This shows that a healthcare provider's advice matters, and they can play a key role in educating caregivers about the possible dangers of bed-sharing. We find this concerning because black infants are at a higher risk of dying of SIDS than white and Hispanic infants.”
