Methods to help people reduce binge-eating behavior

Two new treatments were investigated at Drexel University with the aim to help people to control binge-eating behavior. The researches have developed an interesting application for smart phone users that will help them to keep a track on their eating or bingeing habits. This will help them to control their extra bingeing. This app will set an alert when the user will exceed or go on for extra bingeing on food. Gaurav Naik, a co-investigator from the Forman's research team belonging to Applied Informatics Group (AIG) in Drexel's College of Computing and Informatics explains the app, “Most users have their smartphone with them upwards of 20 hours a day, so a mobile app can be a very effective way to monitor behaviors that a physician wouldn't automatically know about. By combining AIG's knowledge of engineering systems that can learn from data, and the clinical knowledge of our partners in psychology, we can develop an app that we hope can generate successful outcomes.”
