Obesity gene testing also have psychological benefits

According to the new research published in Journal of Genetic Counseling shows that the genetic testing for weight gain related genes. This may offer psychological benefits beyond their limited clinical trials. As per the researchers found the respondents saw the gene test result as scientifically prove. This also helped to remove some of the emotion attached with the issue of weight control. The respondents showed lifestyle choices with long term weight management. Through this research they have recognized the role of both genes and environment. Still there was no evidence for either satisfaction or fatalism in responses. Also respondents evaluated testing positively. It showed that this test is quite motivating and informative, regardless of the test result. According to the authors they explained research, “As the role of genetic counselors is likely to expand, awareness of reasons for genetic testing for common, complex conditions and reactions to the test result is important.”
