Pedestrians` tips for walking

Experts suggest that walking is a great exercise option for pedestrians but they need to stay safe and pay attention to cars and other hazards. It is considered that over 460 U.S.-based pedestrians are treated in hospitals every 24 hours for injuries caused by traffic. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one pedestrian dies every two hours. In 2010, the number of pedestrian deaths because of traffic is estimated to 4,200 and other 70,000 for injuries. According to a CDC news release, men pedestrians are more predisposed to get injured or die because of traffic crashes. Pedestrians situated between 15 and 29 years are the most predisposed group of people to be treated in hospitals for injuries suffered following a traffic crash. The CDC also proves that 1/3 of the U.S. pedestrians killed in 2010 because of car crashes were drunk. The estimated rates are considered to have the following causes: lack of experience in traffic rules, inability to establish vehicle speed and distance and their smaller size.
