Social media users can easily quit smoking

As per a recent research paper published in the Journal of Communication has found that the people who take help of health specific social networking sites can easily quit smoking as compared to those who are not involved in these websites. The researchers thoroughly went through social networking sites that help and encourage people to quit smoking. Also the researcher concluded that these sites have noticed increase in number of participants. It is quite helpful in building a strong sense of community among them and finally led them to quit smoking. These websites provide their members with social support and bind them all with trust. The lead researcher of the study, Joe Phua from University of Georgia explains the details, “This study helps further the notion that social networking sites and other forms of social media can help people to improve their health conditions. These can be used as a standalone way to improve chronic health conditions, or as part of a holistic treatment plan that includes both professional offline help and online social media sites.”
