The reason why obese people fail in dieting found

A study has shown that obese people may find it hard to lose weight or keep off gaining after losing weight because of a certain stomach nerve being damaged by a long period of high fat food consumption. The main function of the nerve is to signal the brain that the stomach is full, however, in obese people the nerve doesn’t work normally and its damage is only partially reversed even when a obese person loses weight. So, they end up eating more than normal as they don’t feel full. The study was done on two groups of mice; one group was given a low calorie diet with only 7% fat while the other group fed on a high calorie diet with 60% fat. After 12 weeks they were taken off these diets and returned to normal diet, but even though the obese mice lost weight initially, they subsequently started to eat more than normal amount.
