Women suffer continuous pain after mastectomy

The breast cancer treatments have been improved largely. This is an ever growing issue for women. They need to be very conscious and aware about it. According to a research published in Journal of Pain shows that even when once it is treated by the doctors many women still suffers from the pain that continues to trouble many survivors long after they undergo mastectomy. The researchers conducted these research 611 women who have partial or total mastectomy to determine their pain following the surgery. These factors included the tumor size, stress or demographics. The women have also received chemotherapy and radiation with or without hormone therapy. Through this they found out the reason for pain. The study further found that the "somatization," or psychological distress that is very much known as physical pain, was related to persistent pain after the procedure. The same was visible catastrophizing, or a tendency to fixate about pain and feel unable to cope with it.
