Obesity represses Cellular Process important for Kidney Health
As per the latest study published in Journal of the American Society of Nephrology suggests that the obesity represses the restoring cellular process that could actually be helpful in protecting the kidney health of the patient.
It was believed that obesity increases the chances of chronic kidney diseases that might lead to kidney failure at the later stage. To help this out the researchers studied the decreased functioning of process called autophagy. This is a degradation system within cells that helps to remove the damaged proteins and other defective cellular components. Hence, they found it helpful to kidney health.
The investigator, Kosuke Yamahara, Takashi Uzu, MD, PhD from Shiga University of Medical Science, in Japan explains, “Obesity suppresses autophagy via an abnormal activation of nutrition sensing signals in the kidney. Our results suggest that restoring the kidney-protective action of autophagy may improve the kidney health of obese patients.”
