Tea Helps You Live Longer

A cup of tea consumed daily can give you a longer life according to the experts from Barcelona University. In course of their study they checked cases of 807 persons in the age group of 65 and above from Central Italy spanning almost 12 years. They found that high intake of polyphenols can reduce mortality rates. Polyphenols are naturally found in fruits, vegetables, cereals, nuts and above all; in tea and coffee. Best part of it is that they have three pronged benefits of being antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, as well as anti-cancerous in nature. According to Raul Zamora Ros, “The results corroborate scientific evidence suggesting that people consuming diets rich in fruit and vegetables are at lower risk of several chronic diseases and overall mortality.” Conclusion derived by the researchers was that use of polyphenol can reduce mortality rate by 30% in such people that consume over 650mg of the compound on daily basis. Mortality rates were much higher in people that consumed less than 500mg per day.
