One out of three patients in hospital have probability of dieing within a year

A recent study held at an academic from the University of Glasgow observed that one out of three patients in a hospital is likely to within a time period of one year. The research study various factors including the age, health and the treatment of around 10,000 patients admitted in 25 hospitals across Scotland on a single day. Of these10,743 patients, the majority were above the age of 65 years and 54.7% were females 45.3% men. Further findings proved that 28.8% of patients will most probably to within 12 months when admitted to a hospital. More help is required when a patient is nearing to his death. One of co-researcher, Professor David Clark, Head of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Glasgow explains, “Until now there has been a dearth of information on the proportion of the hospital population at any one time that is in the last year of life and therefore on how hospital policies and services can be oriented to their needs.”
