Proper sleep, a key of maintaining healthy lifestyle

Three new studies prove that proper sleep is crucial for adults. The studies suggest that people with sleeping disorders should treat this problem and that from 7 to 9 hours of sleep is needed for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The first study involved 2,240 adult participants from Asia, in order to identify the relationship between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and mortality in Asians. The results show that mortality was increased by 2.5% thanks to untreated OSA or not proper sleep. There were 2,673 Australian participants in the second study that proves that there`s a strong relationship between untreated OSA and heart problems. The third research involved Korean participants and analyzed the relation of sleep duration with self-rated health. The results prove that short sleep of 5 hours and long sleep of above 9 hours caused poor self-rated health. All three studies were published in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine.
