Warning From Thoratec About Use Of Heart Pump In Connection With Four Deaths

Subsequent to the deaths of four individuals after using the most reliable Thoratec heart pump, the concerned company issued an additional warning next to improper use of the device. A blood-flow regulator with The HeartMate II Left Ventricular Assist System is motorized by an external manager. In the bags of those individuals who died, the outside controller proved difficult to bicker, with patients attempt to use the encouragement control method instead. Dr. Liviu Klein, a cardiologist at the UCSF Heart and Vascular Center and director of the university's Mechanical Circulatory Support and Heart Failure Device Program to SF Gate says "It's a new controller," "The blame I don't think falls on the company. It falls on the physicians and the caregivers that did not spend enough time on the patients, did not spend enough time making sure they get the appropriate training."
