Binge eating for obese men can cause high cholesterol level and blood pressure

Study involving 190 people (141 women and 49 men) has shown that men (even after being adjusted for race and body mass index) are 3 times more vulnerable to metabolic syndrome, and this is a condition which increases the risk of cardiovascular disease. Tokomo Udo, Ph. D, lead author of the study says, "People used to think binge eating was less common in men than women," The study group was comprised of people who wanted to get help with their weight, she said, “Men are often less likely to seek medical help, which may mean that men who do may be suffering more from consequences of obesity and binge eating.” The overall study thus signifies that women with binge eating disorder are more likely to become overweight earlier, while; the men would more likely say that they are engaged in more strenuous physical activity to lose weight.
