Moderate Arsenic in Environment Leads to Higher Heart Attack
According to a recent study conducted by Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health proves that people who are chronically exposed to very or moderate level of arsenic have more chances of a heart attack or other cardiovascular diseases.
The team found out that if people are having common level of arsenic in their drinking water then they are exposed to higher risk of heart or cardiovascular diseases. The research could point out the effect but could not dig in the real cause of this reaction.
The researcher Dr. Ana Navas-Acien, from department of environmental health sciences explains the study, “We didn't know what would happen at levels that occur regularly in the United States. It's a chronic long-term health effect. We need to understand that cardiovascular disease is a very complex illness, and there are many environmental risk factors like arsenic which can contribute. We know there is elevated arsenic. People need to diversify their diet.”
