Radiofrequency Ablation: Solution to Barrett Esophagus Patients
The figures obtained from Clinical Gastroenterology and hepatology indicated that radiofrequency ablation causes 91% remission for patients suffering with Barrett esophagus.
“We now have dependable figures showing that radiofrequency ablation is a safe and effective treatment for most patients with dysplastic Barrett's esophagus”, said Nicholas one of the authors when emphasizing that it is however important that the patient and service providers be conversant with the potential risks prior to undergoing the treatment process.
The study involved critical analysis of documents published in different websites to obtain trends among patients suffering from Barrett esophagus. The study findings indicated that 13% of the patients had intestinal metaplasia after effective eradication. A minimal percentage of less than 5% was identified to experience pain and bleeding after the process.
Additional analysis of the effect of radiofrequency was done on a larger population and the findings indicated a justification of the suitability of this strategy in treating Barrett esophagus. However, the researchers emphasized on the importance of care and critical analysis of the situation by service providers before adopting the strategy
