BPA-exposed mice identified with liver tumors

The plastics, cash registers and lining of food cans produced these days have a chemical named Bisphenol A or BPA, which has been recently excluded by many companies due to health problems faced by people. Of the many experiments tested by researchers, it was observed that mother mice, injected with 50 mg of BPA per kg diet, were seven times more prone to have tumors compared to the ones unexposed to BPA. Other smaller animals exposed to BPA also reflected the same condition before conception, thus developing fetuses and pups. Also, it was found that getting results in humans took more amount of time. Caren Weinhouse, said, "We found that 27 percent of the mice exposed to one of three different doses of BPA through their mother's diet developed liver tumors and some precancerous lesions. The higher the dosage, the more likely they were to present with tumors".
