Way to cope with football withdrawal following the Super Bowl

It is considered that fans encounter withdrawal symptoms and will not be able to watch football for months because of the final play of the Super Bowl. There are tips offered and effects of this phenomenon explained by Dr. Angelos Halaris, Loyola University Medical Center psychiatrist. His goal is to explain for fans how to cope with withdrawal symptoms. Dr. Halaris considers that when a fan watches a football game, dopamine (a brain chemical or neurotransmitter) is released in a certain area of the brain, in the so-called nucleus accumbens. When the enjoyable activity is over, the person feels deprivation. This feeling is compared and is similar to the one that a smoker feels when gives up with cigarettes. Halaris recommends watching football games on YouTube, recordings and share withdrawal feelings. He adds: “You`re just going to have to basically tough it out until football starts up again”.
