Twins` faces affected by smoking
A recent study proves that the face of identical twins is damaged by aging, because of smoking. The study was released by researchers from Case Western Reserve University Ohio who involved 79 pairs of identical twins in it. One of the twins was smoking, while the other one didn`t. the researchers discovered that smoking twins presented signs of aging on their faces, such as wrinkles, jowls, droops and creases.
The vice president of this study is Danny McGoldrick, at the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids. Researchers made a comparison of twin pairs, asked them questions and photographers took photos of their faces. Early aging could be observed in smoking twins. The results of this study are published in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
According to Dr. Cheryl Healton, president and CEO of the anti-tobacco advocacy group Legacy, smoking brings cardiac problems and early aging and disrupts oxygenation. She highly recommends every smoker to quit smoking as soon as possible.
“It`s really bad to smoke, and it definitely affects your appearance”, she said. “Not smoking is good for your looks”.
