New ways identified to reduce first cesarean
A new study focuses on new methods to avoid cesarean. More than 1/3 of pregnant women are being delivered by cesarean and there are a lot of morbidity cases as well, because of repeated cesarean procedures. Two of the physicians who wrote the article are George R. Saade, M.D., of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Texas Medical Branch, situated in Galveston and Brian M. Mercer, M.D., with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at MetroHealth Medical Center Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
“Given the risks associated with the initial cesarean and its implications in subsequent pregnancies, the most effective approach to reducing overall morbidities related to cesarean delivery is to avoid the first cesarean”, explained Saade.
It is considered that more than 90% of women in the United States who require cesarean encounter subsequent cesarean.
