Bacterial Mix Leads to Painful Sex Right After Menopause
The mixing of different bacteria inside the vagina leads to painful sexual intercourse for women especially after menopause. Bacteria mixing causes dryness of the vagina and sexual pain according to a study done by a team from university of Maryland and Johns Hopkins. The researchers suspect that the bacteria cause vulvovaginal atrophy or VVA.
According to the team, personalized probiotics is necessary in to manage the mixing of bacteria and the incidence of VVA for most women. The results of this research were published in a journal by the North American Menopause Society.
The study further suggests that women should use therapies like lubricants for intercourse. This will aid them in facing the pains of vaginal dryness due to VVA. Estrogen will also be applicable for those who are suffering moderate and severe VVA. In cases when these interventions are not applicable moisturizers can be used. Experts advise women to be observant with the impacts of these reliefs.
