Lose weight with intestinal barrier sleeves!

Researchers from the Helmholtz Zentrum München, in collaboration with the University of Cincinnati, situated in the USA found that non-permeable tube is able to reduce obesity and to enhance glucose metabolism. This study is published in the British medical journal Gut. Currently, the most efficient treatment against obesity is gastric bypass. The new surgical method was invented by an international team of scientists led by Dr. Kirk Habegger, Metabolic Disease Institute, University of Cincinnati and Prof. Dr. Matthias Tschöp, Scientific Director of the Helmholtz Zentrum München (HDC) at the Helmholtz Centrum München (HMGU), Partner of the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD). The new method is considered to be a promising treatment alternative for diabetes and obesity. In Germany, one of the main diseases is considered to be overweight and obesity, such as type II diabetes. This research released by this international team of scientists at the Helmholtz Zentrum München maximally focuses on these common diseases in Germany.
