Active mothers have active kids

According to a new study ‘Activity Levels in Mothers and Their Preschool Children’ published in scientific journal Pediatrics suggests that the level of physical activity or activeness in a kid depend upon their mothers. It is the mothers who influence their kids to be active or lazy. The researchers observed more than 500 mothers and their toddlers were assessed on their daily activities. This observation showed that the kids whose mothers are active actively participate in various activities. Keeping this in consideration the experts suggests in order improving kid’s health and activeness there should be various policies suggesting conducts for family members specifically mothers. The co-researcher, Dr Esther van Sluijs at the MRC Epidemiology Unit and the Centre for Diet and Activity Research, University of Cambridge explains, “We used an activity monitor that was attached to participants and worn continuously, even during sleep and water-based activity. This approach allowed us to capture accurately both mothers' and children's physical activity levels for the whole of the measurement period, matching hour for hour maternal-child activity levels.”
