Research says- Older adults live longer with a few extra pounds
A new research conducted at the Ohio State University shows that the over weight elder adults should not cut down their weights for a long life rather they should maintain it. As they tend to have longer lives than the normal weight controlled people.
But still there is a cause of worry for obese old people whose weight is ever increasing. They have high chances of early death. So, having little more weight than required is fine but it should be maintained well.
The lead author of the research, Hui Zheng, assistant professor of sociology at The Ohio State University explains the study, “Our other research suggests that the negative effect of obesity on health is greater for young people than it is for older people, so young people especially shouldn't think that being overweight is harmless. This suggests that among overweight people at age 51, small weight gains do not significantly lower the probability of survival. ”
