Sleeping less does not help the elderly

Most people have believed for a very long time that the elderly need less sleep when they age but a studies done by researchers from the University of California, San Diego, says that the myth is not true and might be harmful to the ones that believe it. Researchers believes that if older people do not get enough sleep they could have problems with their brain and health ability. It could cause them to have lack of concentration and serious other conditions might happen as a result of lack of sleep. Researchers did a test and conducted the test on older adults between 33 to 68 years old. This test confirmed what they believed with the lack of sleep and how their brain was really affected and sometimes it was affected severely. The people who took the test had problems with being able to say things and was not able to concentrate enough on their speech. These people had less then 6 hours of sleep. Ones who have over 7 to 8 hours of sleep tend to do things better and their brain is healthy. They can focus more and able to finish tasks faster then ones who are not able to get enough sleep.
