Research shows - More diseases responsible for dementia than thought

According to a recent study conducted at the Clinical Institute of Neurology at MedUni Vienna proves that the neurodegenerative diseases leaving the Alzheimer's disease are more prominent in the older people than it was previously thought. Looking forward for a relevant solution, the researchers felt that if the older patients are looked after with more personalized treatment then the situation can be controlled appreciably. The doctors should shift from common treatment to specific treatment for every patient. The leading author, Gabor G. Kovacs at the Clinical Institute of Neurology, explains the study, “The VITA study shows that, in addition to the classic Alzheimer's-associated changes in the ageing brain, there are other neurodegenerative conditions that are characterized by protein deposits in the brain. Further studies are therefore required in which patients will be monitored in order to determine which of the combinations are associated with more favorable or more deleterious prognoses for the patients.”
