The insight in brain’s planning redefined
The know- how of how the brain plans different movements has been redefined by the researchers at the University of Queensland. For the insightful test meant to enhance understanding of the human brain, the brains of 10 Parkinson diseased patients were analyzed.
The patients were awake during the profound surgery of brain stimulation. It was found that the movements are not planned by any one particular part, but by more than one part of the brain.
Professor Pankaj Sah, a prime researcher, said, “This study aimed to improve understanding of how different parts of the brain are involved in planning movement and controlling gait.”
Behind only to Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease is the second most occurring neuro-degenerative condition; and victimizes as many as 6 million people across the gobe.
The researchers emphasized that enhanced understanding of brains functioning can help in targeted treatment of the mentioned diseases.
